In May of 2006 Chelsea was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on her leg. Our wonderful vet, Dr. Kaufman from Eastern
Animal Hospital immediated perfomred surgery. After a slow recovery, she continued to do better and better and even
went on long hikes and swims with the boys but after a few months gradually became more amd more stiff and getting around
was very hard for her. When it became clear that she was in pain and could hardly get up to walk, we took her
back to Dr. Kaufman. Just a little over a year and a half from the date of her surgery, once again he said the cancer
had come back on her. We had to make a heart wrenching decision to end her suffering and lovingly say goodbye to our
true and faithful, loving friend of 10 years. Letting her go was clearly the right thing to do Dr. Kaufman confirmed.
Keeping her with us would only prolong her suffering . Her ashes were scattered in an apple orchard on the property of
a pet cemetery in the Western Maryland mountains setting her spirit free once again to run effortlessly and gracefully as
she did when she were young. Here, I would like to honor her life in pictures and wish her many tail wagging adventures
and lots of puppy hugs and kisses until we meet her once again at the "Rainbow Bridge".
We will always remember and love you dear Chelsea girl. Your family. Kathy, Justin, Tyler, Heather, Christa
and Schatzie the cat.
A warm and loving friend...
Tyler not quite 3 years old yet.
It didn't seem so long ago back in 1997 when my daughter told me that friends of hers needed to find a home for their
golden retriever because they were moving and could not take the dog with them. Being a big fan of that specific
breed of dog, I jumped at the opportunity and told her to tell them I was interested. Next thing I knew, both of us
were headed to their home to meet their pet.
I learned alot about her before she even entered the room. I was told that in exactly a week and 3 days on July
5th she will be 2 years old. She had just weaned a litter of puppies that they had sold and that she was a very good
dog. She was also AKC registered under the name of Tye's Buffy Little Sapphire. They called her Buffy for short.
I was still deep in thought whether or not to take the dog until she entered the room. One look and my heart melted
and I knew this was the beginning of a long, devoted and faithful friendship. I started calling her Cheslea, a name
I had chosen years ago for a golden if I were ever to own one. She responded to it immediately.
My son who was only 3 1/2 months short of being 3 years at the time fell in love with her also. There wasn't any
escaping those big beautiful expressive and loving eyes. There was no choice but to take this beautiful animal home
with us.
We miss you Chelsea Girl. We will cherish our memories of you for a lifetime and you will remain in our
hearts forever.
Time is too slow for those who wait, Too swift for those who fear, Too long for
those who grieve, Too short for those who rejoice. But for those who love, Time is not.

Chelsea always loved a good romp in the snow
Tyler was Chelsea's little puppy. She loved him and would put up with anything. If he got to the point of
getting on her nerves she would just swat him down to the floor with her big paws and pin him there where he would just wiggle
helplessly to get up. It was all in fun but Chelsea really did love Tyler as if he were her own puppy. Chelsea
loved everybody unconditionally!
